Hi,

i just installed NetBSD 4.0 on our IBM HS-20 Blade Center directly on the
SAN. Worked like a charm (with FreeBSD i can only install 6.1, and also
need some tricks to do so...).
The only problem is the NIC.

dmesg output:

bnx0 at pci10 dev0 function0: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000 BASE-SX
SerDes controllers are not supported!
bnx1 at pci12 dev0 function0: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000 BASE-SX
SerDes controllers are not supported!

Is there a way to get this NIC working?

Cheers,

Axel

If some other opensource OS has it working (preferably a BSD), it should be
possible to make it work.

Looks like the original work bnx(4) is derived from (FreeBSD bce(4)) does have
some serdes support now. Now all we need to find is the proverbial capable
someone who has hardware and copious free time. (I only have the time and
some of the ability.)

Hi,

ok, so this one is not working :-(.
I got the hardware, time to test, but i am not a kernel/nic hacker, so this
has to be done by someone else :-(.

Cheers,

Axel
